Treatments
Treatments:
Modalities
Naturopathic doctors address the physical, mental and emotional states of the patient. Naturopathic treatments are individualized and may include the following:
Clinical Nutrition:
Nutritional excesses, deficiencies and intolerances have been associated with numerous medical conditions. Dietary modification and nutritional supplementation can improve health concerns with few complications and side effects.
Botanical Medicine
Plants and plant extracts have been used throughout history and continue to be a valuable part of health care today. Currently, naturopathic doctors are the only health care practitioners licensed to practice botanical medicine in Canada.
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
Naturopathic doctors use eastern herbs and acupuncture to re-balance the body. During acupuncture, thin needles are inserted to stimulate the body’s vital force (Qi). Acupuncture has been proven extremely effective for pain relief and chronic illness.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of aging. It has been used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Eastern countries for thousands of years to restore, promote and maintain good health. Cosmetic acupuncture treats the signs of aging on the face and neck, as well as the underlying imbalances in the body that have accelerated the aging process. Treatments firm sagging skin, fill out deep lines, reduce acne and improve overall appearance.
Ultra fine acupuncture needles are inserted first in points around the body to treat internal imbalances, creating balance which is reflected in the face. Following, needles are inserted in strategic points on the face to address your specific concerns. The insertion of fine needles into the face can clear wrinkles in two ways;
1) by stimulating energy (what the Chinese call Qi) flow and blood circulation and
2) by tightening muscles of the face, providing a ‘lift’ to the face.
The needles also stimulate blood and collagen circulation, which enhances facial colour, clears the mind and helps increase mental focus. The results look natural, because they are! Most treatment programs involve a series of twelve 1 hour sessions.
Physical Medicine
These include manipulation of the spine and other joints, soft tissue massage, ultrasound, hydrotherapy and exercise therapy.
Homeopathic Medicine
Homeopathy is a form of energetic medicine using the theory that “Like cures Like.” This medicine has been used to treat physical and mental conditions effectively for over 200 years.
Lifestyle Counseling
We recognize that stress and life events have a strong impact on health. Naturopathic doctors are trained to counsel on a variety of topics including diet, exercise, stress and emotional issues.
Intravenous Therapy
Intravenous (IV) therapy involves delivering high doses of vitamins and minerals directly into the blood to provide rapid, effective relief of symptoms. Naturopathic doctors require additional training and experience in this highly specialized and growing area of medical treatment. IV therapy can provide the necessary nutrients to reduce the side effects and improve the quality of life in persons undergoing conventional cancer treatments. This therapy also has documented benefits for treatment of disease conditions like chronic fatigue, cancer, asthma, allergies and migraines.
Intravenous therapy has documented benefits for treatment of the following conditions:
- Increased sports performance and recovery after training
- Increased effectiveness and decreased side-effects of conventional cancer therapy
- Detoxification and purification
- Chronic Fatigue syndrom
- Fibromyalgia Immune deficiency syndrome
- Muscular skeletal imbalances and repair
- Vitamin B12/Folate deficiency anemia
- Restless leg syndrome
- Osteopenia and Osteoporosis
- Cardiovascular disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Immune balance and support
- Improved recovery from infectious mononucleosis
- Malnutrition and other digestive disorders such as Irritable bowel syndrome, Celiac disease,
